Over the summer I spotted a post on Craigslist offering a small collection of Jack Kirby comics for $225. Turns out the collection wasn’t so small. It included full runs of The Demon, 2001, Black Panther, OMAC, Kamandi, Devil Dinosaur, The Eternals, Forever People, even Jimmy Olsen #134 (1st cameo Darkseid). Also included were a number of Jacky Kirby Omnibuses and standalone stories. 

I started collecting comics near the end of the silver age, when Jack Kirby was already established as “the king” of comic artists. In a field that included pencillers like Gil Kane, Barry (Windsor) Smith, Joe Kubert, and Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby’s style was easily the most recognizable. If Jack Kirby drew a comic I was certain to buy it.
